Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan was born on January 10, 1974, in Mumbai, India, to actress Pinky and actor Rakesh Roshan, who was himself the son of a well-known film-music director Roshan. Rakesh later turned to film production and direction. Hrithik’s entry into acting extended the Roshan family role in Bollywood to the third generation.
Hrithik’s first movie role was in the 1980 movie Aasha, where he was an extra, a dancing boy. Later he worked behind the camera, supporting his director father. While he was working on the movie Karan Arjun, the film’s lead, Sharukh Khan and Salman Khan, urged Hrithik to try his hand at acting. It is said that Salman gave Hrithik lessons in body-building and acting.
He was surprised when his father offered him the lead role in Kaho Naa Pyar Hai in 2000. He took six months’ time to prepare himself and his debut appearance in the film mesmerized the Bollywood. Awed by its success, several Big Banners began signing him for quite a few films like Fiza, Lakshya and Mission Kashmir. Due to poor storyline and bad scripting, the movies failed to collect enough money for the box office and the industry had almost written him off.
Hrithik, however, did not lose heart and his father’s second production Koi Mil Gaya, a science fiction ever tried in the Bollywood in 2003, brought out the best in him. Acting as a mentally challenged youth, humiliated by friends but cured by an alien, Hrithik showed his maturity as well as his versatility. His acting talent charged up the entire country. The huge success of the film earned him the Filmfare Best Actor award for the second time after Kao Naa Pyaar Hai.
His superlative performance in another blockbuster father Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish, a sequel to Koi Mil Gaya, and also in Dhoom 2, wherein he acted as a sophisticated thief, reestablished the actor as a Superstar in 2006.
With several endorsements in the ad world, he became the highest paid actor in the Bollywood since Dhoom 2. Among his peers, he paid the highest income tax of Rupees 16 crore in 2006.
Hrithik married childhood friend Sussane, daughter of former actor Sanjay Khan, in 2000.
